James Ronald Bone

James R. Bone, age 85, of Northville, passed away on August 11, 2024. He was born on November 19, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan; son of James E. and Jean (Guthrie) Bone. Jim was a graduate of Redford High School, class of 1957. After graduation he joined the United States Navy; he proudly served his country aboard the USS Bremerton travelling all over the south pacific.

After serving in the Navy, Jim embarked on a career with Chrysler, where he was a dedicated employee for more than 30 years. He retired in 1991 as the Quality Control Manager at the Sterling Stamping Plant in Sterling Heights. Jim went on to a second career as a groundskeeper at Fox Hill Golf Course.

After the passing of his first wife, Connie, Jim was fortunate to find love again and married Suzy Mynatt on August 14, 2004. Jim and Suzy spent 20 years devoted to each other.

Jim’s greatest passion was Civil War competition shooting, and he was a proud member of the NSSA/ACWSA. As the family historian, Jim took great pride in his Scottish heritage. He was also a dedicated member of the Stone Gang at Northville Mill Race Village. Jim had a deep appreciation for classic cars and loved cruising Woodward Avenue with friends.

A devoted father, he supported his children by coaching their youth athletic teams, excelling as both a hockey and baseball coach. Jim cherished playing golf with his grandchildren and enjoyed camping trips with his family. He also loved traveling to experience the history and beauty of different states, with Wyoming being his favorite destination. Known for his kindness, generosity, and the patience of a saint, Jim’s easy-going personality will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Suzy; his children, Jim Bone, Scott (Debbie) Bone, Jackie (Robert) Miller, and Mark (Laura Lipe) Bone; his step-children, Debbie (Ted) Riddle and John (Amy) Mynatt; his sister, Nancy (Mike) Alcorn; his grandchildren, Robert (Alyssa) Bone, Ryan Bone, Robert (Brie) Miller, Zachary Silver, Jake Silver, Breanna Miller, Sean Bone, Eric Bone, Mike Bone, Kristy Bone, Shannon Bone, Gabby (Casey) Redfield, Sarah (Andrew) Cashen, Mitch (Megan) Mynatt, and Gina (Matt) Roughton; and his great grandchildren, Liam Bone and Annie Mynatt. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Donna Johnson, and his first wife Connie Bone.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. William Stockhausen, a dear friend, will officiate the service.
