Helen M. Belser

Age 86, of Northville, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2021. She was born December 9, 1934 in Port Clinton, Ohio; daughter of John and Anna (nee Grabow) Loehden.  Helen was united in marriage to John W. Belser on June 23, 1956; they celebrated over 61 years of dedication to each other until his death on August 5, 2017.

Helen received her Associate degree from Schoolcraft College in Livonia. She worked as a bookkeeper in the medical field until she retired in 1998. Upon retirement, she moved to Tennessee with her husband from Northville. Moving back to Northville after her husband passed away to be closer to her family.

Helen loved to read and enjoyed staying active through walking, golfing, and exercising. Her favorite sport to watch was women’s basketball. She traveled all over the world, she truly has been everywhere. Helen was an incredible bridge player; she traveled to different bridge tournaments and competed regularly. Helen loved being with her friends and family. Her children called her the “Master of the Wooden Spoon” and a wonderful mother who taught them many important life lessons. Helen was a Brownie leader when her daughter was young and when Helen was younger, she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Helen enjoyed cooking a variety of culinary meals, always trying new creations. She was a loving and outgoing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Helen is survived by her children, Kae (Stephen) Bauer and John (Teresa) Belser; her grandchildren, Danielle (Jeff Meng), Cree Meadows, and Emmy Meadows; and her great grandchildren Madison and Bradley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her twin brother Henry Loehden, and her sister Irmgard Loehden.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Humane Society of Huron Valley , 3100 Cherry Hill Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
