Age 48, of Northville, formerly of Livonia, passed away July 5, 2022. She was born on August 6, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan; the daughter of Carol and Mark Havlena. She graduated from Omro High School in Omro, Wisconsin; Class of 1991. Following high school, she continued her education and earned an associate degree from Schoolcraft College. She was united in marriage to Shane Hastings on June 16, 2001; they spent 21 loving years devoted to one another.

Heidi was a dedicated, lifelong vegan; it was a lifestyle that was important to her well-being and reflected her passion for the ethical treatment of all living creatures. Heidi was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing vegan dishes with friends and family. She loved to entertain which included hosting holidays for family and various gatherings with friends. Incredibly social and outgoing, Heidi cherished the time she spent with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and visited Mexico, China, and several destinations in Europe. She had plans to travel back to Europe to meet her stem cell donor who is from Germany. One of Heidi’s favorite places to visit was her aunt’s home in Frankfort, Michigan.

Her greatest joy in life was watching her daughter Mya play hockey. Heidi, Shane, and Mya have a wonderful hockey family and have made a lot of happy memories traveling and attending tournaments all over the country.

A loyal and supportive friend, Heidi was willing to help in any way she could. She was caring, compassionate, empathetic, and generous. Heidi was truly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Heidi is survived by her loving husband, Shane Hastings; her daughter, Mya Hastings; her parents, Carol and Mark Havlena; her father-in-law, Gary Hastings; her brother Peter Havlena; her sisters-in-law, Lori Robinson and Lanette Hastings; her brothers-in-law, Steve Coleman and Keith Fuchs; her aunt, Sandy (Tom) Giaier; her aunt Nancy (Tom) Storm, and many nieces nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Forest and Doris Skees; her mother-in-law, Kathy Hastings; and her sister-in-law, Lisa Coleman.

Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022, from Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville . A Celebration of Life will be held the following day, Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Noon with Memorial Visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. also at Casterline Funeral Home.
