Harold "Lynn" Stringer age 82, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away November 12, 2022. He was born on January 26, 1940 in Steubenville, Ohio; son of Harold Hall and Martha Caroline (Blayney) Stringer. Lynn graduated from Hopedale High School, class of 1958. He continued his education at Purdue University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He was united in marriage to Georgeann Pussehl on May 17, 1997; recently celebrating over 25 years devoted to each other.
He grew up working beside his family members in the repair garage of their family trucking company. At the age of 15, he developed what would become a lifelong passion for 1932 Ford Deuces. In his words, “The ’32 has always appealed to me because of its lines and smooth look.” By age 19 he built his first hot rod. Throughout his lifetime, he would restore dozens of 1932 Fords, both to a factory-original state and modified hot rods for his and others’ collections. Lynn was a member of the V-8 Club of America and the Michigan Hot Rod Association. His cars earned top honors at national car meets. He contributed time and knowledge to restore the 1932 Ford collection at the Henry Ford Greenfield Village for posterity. Every year for the past 50 years, Lynn made the trip to Pennsylvania for the Hershey Region AACA classic car meet where he traded for parts and connected with his good friends.
Following his passion for automobiles, in 1963, Lynn joined the Ford Motor company. He thrived professionally, spending most of his 35-year career at Ford as a truck engineer.
His love for building and creating followed him into retirement. In 1998, he obtained a builder’s license, which he applied at their home in Northville Township where he embarked on a major remodel and addition project. Lynn was also an avid collector of HO Model trains. Often found wearing his favorite cowboy hat and boots, he was a fan of western apparel.
Lynn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Northville for the entire 50 years he resided in town. He was active within the church and proudly served as an Elder on the property and building committee of the session. He enjoyed talking cars with his old car buddies and walking with friends at Twelve Oaks Mall. He was a proud, dedicated, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who always had a wink or a twinkle in his eye letting you know he was thinking of you.
He is survived by his wife Georgeann; his children, Jason (Ann Katrin Terlaak) Stringer and Amy (Bill Mowat) Stringer-Mowat; his stepsons, Bill Stom, Dennis (Pamela) Stom, and Garrett (Agnieszka) Stom; his siblings, George (Janet) Stringer, Kay Clark, and Carolyn Stringer; and his grandchildren, Finnian, Niels, Annika, Kai, Henry, Sadie, Nathan, Carver, Elizabeth, and Graysen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
