Gloria A. Blazo, age 89, of Northville formerly of Royal Oak, passed away on October 29, 2018. She was born September 28, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan; daughter of Delos and Gladys (nee Gillick) Lehman. She graduated in the class of 1946 from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw. Then she continued her education at Central Michigan University where she met her husband Donald Blazo. They frequented football games together and were true Chippewa fans. On July 11, 1953 Gloria and Donald were married. They were devoted to each other for over 51 years until his death on June 10, 2005.
Gloria was a teacher for 3 years with Bloomfield Hills Public Schools and a substitute teacher for the Royal Oak school district for 30 years. She enjoyed reading bible scriptures and the newspaper. Gloria loved indulging in anything chocolate. She liked bird watching and knew the names of many different types of birds. She truly appreciated the beauty of nature and being outdoors. She enjoyed travelling. She was fondly remembered by her sons for the vacations they took together when they were young to Big Star Lake in Baldwin, MI. Gloria enjoyed vacationing in Naples, Florida with her husband in their retirement years. She was a fan of the Detroit Tigers. Gloria was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, David (Kimberley) Blazo and Steven (Bobbie) Blazo; her brother Don (Shirley) Lehman; her grandchildren, Drew (Amy) Blazo, Jordan (Briley) Blazo, Devon (Christina) Blazo, Bennett (Kelsey) Blazo, and Spencer (Courtney) Blazo; and her great grandchildren, Isaac, Lilly, Kaylee, and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Delos Lehman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:00pm, with visitation beginning at 12:30pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Michigan Animal Rescue League, 790 Featherstone, Pontiac, MI 48342.
