Glenn W. Doonan

Glenn W. Doonan, age 93, of Northville formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away December 25, 2018. He was born on October 6, 1925 in Kalamazoo, Michigan; son of Barney and Ada (nee Sherwood) Doonan. Glenn graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Glenn was united in marriage to Ruth M. Miller on June 11, 1949; truly devoted to each other for over 52 years until her death on December 25, 2001.

Glenn worked as a Research Technician for Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company, now known as Pfizer; he retired in 1983 at the age of 58. He enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic Church and School in Kalamazoo both in the library and kitchen. He was active with the Northville Historical Society and volunteered his time and talent with the Stone Gang. Glenn loved attending musical theater and listening to the orchestra. He was interested in the history of ships and planes; especially from the WWII era. Glenn was very dedicated to his family and had a quick sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, Carolyn (James) Stuart and Mark Doonan; his grandchildren, Andrew (Melissa) Stuart and Kevin (Marcella) Stuart; his great grandchildren, Liam, Lilah, and Henry; and his companion Annie Sillers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 3 brothers, and his son Mathew Doonan.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 from 5pm until 8pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:30am, instate at 10am at Our Lady of Victory, 133 Orchard, Northville. Following the service military honors will be performed.  He will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
