Gary A. Quick, age 72, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on August 23, 2021 with his family by his side. He was born on October 16, 1948 in Springfield, Ohio; son of Robert and Hilda (nee Wiseman) Quick. He was united in marriage to Peggy Good on November 23, 1975 at the Candlelight Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. They celebrated their honeymoon in Oahu, Hawaii. Together, they raised three children.
Gary graduated in 1971 from the University of Cincinnati, College of Business Administration, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management with Honors. While at University of Cincinnati, Gary was initiated into Sigma Iota Epsilon Honorary Management Fraternity in 1969 as well as the Beta Gamma Sigma Fraternity in 1970. Gary began a career with Ford Motor Company on April 3, 1968 on a college work program. After graduating, he was officially hired into purchasing. He worked across several departments holding various positions over the years, and travelled to many foreign countries. His Ford career culminated in 1998 as the Executive Director of North American Automotive Operations. After his retirement from Ford, and 30 years of dedication, he continued on with the Automotive Industry Action Group for two years. He went on to assist the GT 40 team as well. Gary always led by example in his keen work ethic.
Gary was a spiritual, loving, family man, loyal friend, and dog lover, who always put his family above anything else. Through life, he enjoyed being both laid back, but also very active. He loved to ride his bike- especially along the trails in Hilton Head Island. He also loved walking his beloved golden retrievers, and had a passion for 5K races. You could find him and Peggy competing in races nearly every weekend all over Michigan and South Carolina. He loved to travel with his family whenever possible. The Hawaiian Islands were a favorite place to go, and you could always find Gary listening to music, basking in the sun, with a big smile on his face. Hilton Head Island was also another one of his favorite places to be. Gary and Peggy began vacationing in Hilton Head in the late 70s, and loved it so much, that it became a part of their retirement, when they eventually purchased a home there to enjoy. Another important part of Gary’s life was his love for fine wine and good music. He loved all music genres, however, among his favorites, were The Beatles. The songs of The Beatles were the soundtrack to many of the amazing Quick family memories. Gary had a contagious smile, a great sense of humor, electric dance moves, a meticulously organized mind, and was a true warrior. He persevered over all of the health obstacles he faced, and never complained. He was an amazing, fun-loving, and caring husband, dad, poppy, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Gary is survived by his wife Peggy; his children, Angie (Steve) Michuda, Dave, and Heather (Matt) Williams; his brothers, Stephen (Candace) Quick and Marc (Marilyn) Quick; his grandchildren, Luke and Cora Michuda and Kai Williams; and his dogs Colby & Jack. He was preceded by his parents and beloved goldens (Kona, Zeke, Tessy, Wrigley, & Tanner).
