Gail A. King

Gail A. King, age 87, of Livonia, formerly of Redford Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on December 23, 2024. She was born on September 12, 1937 in Northville, Michigan; daughter of Howard and Ruth (Krumm) Waterman.  She graduated from Northville High School; class of 1955.  Gail was united in marriage to Billy D. King on September 29, 1956; they spent 61 years together until his death on November 16, 2017.

Gail was a devoted homemaker and dedicated her life to caring for her family and managing all the household affairs with love and care.  An incredibly supportive wife, she contributed her skills as a bookkeeper for Bill King Electric, her husband’s electrical business.

Gail found the greatest joy in her family; she treasured every moment she spent with her loved ones and especially adored her grandchildren. Home was her favorite place, where she felt happiest surrounded by those she cherished most.  Gail enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to the beautiful flowers and vegetables she grew in the gardens around her home.  She loved Christmas, each year she baked several varieties of cookies and fudge, her rum balls being a favorite family tradition.

Gail was very precise and while she worked slowly at tasks, everything was always done just right.  Whether it was sewing clothing for her family, cross-stitching  pillowcases, blankets, or aprons, to her hand made teddy bears, each was crafted beautifully and meticulously. Gail was a wonderful and loyal friend, known for making a lasting positive impression on everyone she met. She was highly trustworthy, and her ability to keep a secret made her a confidante to many. She enjoyed a good card game with friends and was a fierce and lucky bingo player. Gail’s loving devotion to her family and friends created lasting memories and deep bonds that will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Gail is survived by her loving children, Linda (Terry) Johnson and Doug (Dieanna) King; her grandchildren, Andy Johnson, Dana Johnson, Kayla (Joel Curlee) King, and Daniel (Brooke Laderoot) King; and her great grandchildren, Carter, Wyatt, Logan, and Elijah.  She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 30, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.  Pastor Jim Stolt from Praise Community Church in Plymouth will officiate the service.  Mrs. King will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi.
