Gail D. Dekun

Age 73, a lifetime resident of Northville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 7, 2020.  She was born on September 7, 1947 in Northville, Michigan; daughter of Elmer L. and Lucy R. (nee Griswold) Bennett.  Gail was united in marriage to Gary T. Dekun; spending 17 years together as husband and wife.

Gail was the Housekeeping Manager with Hotel Barnoette in Novi for 10 years before retiring. She was a great cook; beef stroganoff was one of the family favorites. Gail was also an incredible baker. Spending time at her family’s cottage on Bird Lake, a cottage that has been in her family for 3 generations, was one of her favorite pastimes. Gail was an extremely talented interior decorator and was proud of her creative accomplishments. During the holidays her home was beyond beautiful, each Christmas decoration was perfectly placed, and her Christmas trees were spectacular. Her family gathered at her home on Christmas Eve and many family photos were taken in front of her tree. Gail loved her furry companions Cookie and Leo; they brought so much joy to her life.

Gail is survived by her husband Gary; her mother Lucy Shaw; her children, Ron (Kim) Miller and Carmen (Brian) Boyd; and her siblings, Jerry Bennett and Linda (Mike) Johnson; and her grandchildren, Ronnie (Mariah Nelson) Miller, Taylor Miller and Matthew Boyd. She is also survived by the Dekun family. Gail was preceded in death by her father Elmer and her sister-in-law Pam Bennett.
