Elizabeth A. Joslin

March 8, 1933 — July 22, 2024

Elizabeth Anne Joslin (née Browne) passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 in Novi, Michigan at the age of 91. She was born in North Rosedale Park in Detroit on March 8, 1933 to Mary Anne Hutchinson Browne and Cyril G. Browne, the youngest of five children. Her beloved husband of 50 years, Burr G. Joslin, preceded her in death. She and Burr both attended Redford High School in Detroit and shared the same orthodontist, but never knew each other until they were introduced on a blind date.

Elizabeth proudly taught first grade at Burton Elementary School in Huntington Woods until the births of her daughters, Nancy Joslin Kaleel, and Dr. Judith Joslin-Page. She was active in Bushnell Congregational Church in Detroit, the First Presbyterian Church of Northville, and the First Presbyterian Church of Sturgis, where she and Burr happily retired, residing on Klinger Lake.

Elizabeth loved to substitute teach and enjoyed world travels with Burr. She participated in several garden clubs, card clubs, exercise, swimming and golf groups.  Her recipe group, fondly known as Sisters of Skillet produced some culinary disasters that became family favorites including Cherry Klunk and the 7-Pound Orange Cake.  Elizabeth famously talked to strangers (and everybody everywhere).

Beloved by her sons-in-law, David Page and Mosa Kaleel, her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their children, she delighted in her pride for all of them. Elizabeth supported several philanthropies and the arts in Sturgis. She remained proud of her alma mater, Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and her affiliation with the Alpha Nu Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta sorority there, both of which would be honored to receive donations in her name. Her family remains grateful for the wonderful care she received at Fox Run in Novi for the last 13 years.
