Jean Shaeffer

Eleanor Jean Shaeffer, age 88 of Northville, passed away on April 19, 2020. She was born on June 30, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan; cherished only child of Kenneth and Marian (nee Bracy) McPherson. Known to friends and family as Jean, she was raised in Plymouth and moved to Akron, Ohio in 1959 after marrying James A. Shaeffer. James and Jean were dedicated to each other for almost 50 years until his death in 2009.

Jean was a devoted housewife. She was very active in the Fairlawn Garden Club and enjoyed tending to her floral gardens. Jean loved spending time at their summer retreat near Marblehead, Ohio where she spent many hours boating and having fun on Lake Erie. She was an avid reader and passionate shopper. Jean enjoyed creating beautiful cross stitch pieces.

She is survived by her stepdaughter Linda (Kevin) Clark and her grandsons, Christopher Clark, Daniel Clark, and Jeffrey Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her dear cousin Marilyn Michalak.

A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn, Ohio. During this difficult time please let the family know you are thinking of them and reach out with a phone call or leave an online condolence.
