Dr. Lester A. Tomaszewski

Age 90, of Berkley, formerly a longtime resident of Howell and Novi, passed away August 22, 2022. He was born on January 1, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Zbigniew and Maryla (Wroblewska) Tomaszewski. Lester graduated from Northville High School; Class of 1949.  Following high school, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Captain in the Dental Corps.  While stationed in Germany he met the love of his life, Ida E. Haller.  They were united in marriage on December 19, 1959 and spent 59 years devoted to one another until her death on June 20, 2019.

Lester began a successful family dental practice in Fowlerville in 1961 and continued serving the community until retiring at the age of 70.  He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Howell for many years.

Lester was an avid fisherman and preferred fishing for bass, crappie, and perch in smaller lakes in the area.  He and his wife enjoyed getting away.  They spent time travelling to many destinations including Alaska, Hawaii, Northern Michigan, Germany to visit family, and a yearly trip to Chicago to spend time at Navy Pier and in the Museum District.  A classic movie buff, Lester also liked to watch reruns of Johnny Carson.  He also liked to go out to eat, among his favorite restaurants were Beefcarver and 3 Brothers Restaurant for traditional Polish cuisine.  Lester was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather; he will be missed by all who loved him.

Lester is survived by his sons, Glenn (Kitty Moore) Tomaszewski and Arthur (Chris) Tomaszewski; and his grandchildren, Brendan Tomaszewski, Jeffrey Tomaszewski, Ciara Regan-Moore, Vicki Tomaszewski, and Sarah Tomaszewski.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida E. Tomaszewski and his parents.

Private family services will be held.  Dr. Tomaszewski will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville with his wife and parents.
