Douglas A. Knight
Age 79, of Novi, passed away October 17, 2022. He was born on November 10, 1942 in Denver, Colorado; son of Gilbert Richard and Marion Carol (Chall) Knight. Doug was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Rorabacher on June 25, 1983; they spent over 39 years dedicated to their love.
Doug proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years during the Cuban Missile Crisis. During his time in both Arkansas and Alaska, it was noted that he kept meticulously clean quarters and always passed inspection. Doug was raised in Detroit and moved to the suburbs of Northville, Plymouth, and Livonia from 1971 until moving to Novi in 1996, where he lived for 26 years. He worked in various departments of Kroger Dairy in Livonia where retired after 35 years of service.
Doug was devoted to God and was a member of Lakes Bible Church in Walled Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his veteran friends who gathered often to discuss faith and military history. Doug was dedicated to helping others; he volunteered countless hours repairing and updating church properties as well as helping people in need. He was active with his children in their younger years and always supported their interests. He and his son enjoyed weekly meetings and camping adventures through Stockade (Brigade), a church-based scouting organization. Doug loved to golf. He never thought of golf as frustrating, rather it was relaxing and fun. He was a giving and sincere husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Doug is survived by his wife Bonnie Knight; his children, Susan Grover, Paul (Kimberly) Knight, and Elizabeth (Timothy) Allard; and his grandchildren, Jacob (Magnolia) Knight, Faith Knight, Hope Knight, Ronald Grover, Gabriel Allard, Theodore Allard, and Dalton Allard. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joan Griffith, and his brother Gary Knight.
