Dorothy L. Homrich
Passed away on June 6, 2020, at the age of 88, in Ocala, Florida. She was born on January 23, 1932 in Northville, Michigan; daughter of Roy and Jennie (nee Miller) Kehrl. Dorothy was united in marriage to Thomas L. Homrich on June 1, 1963; married for 57 years. She was born, raised and raised her family in Northville in the same house she grew up in. She moved to Ocala, Florida in 2000.
Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Northville High School. Upon graduation Dorothy worked at a bakery in downtown Northville but when the opportunity arose, she became a bank teller with Manufacturer’s Bank in Northville. She moved to Grand Rapids to work at Old Kent Bank until she met and married the love of her life, Tom. Once they began a family she decided to stay home and raise her children.
Dorothy was devoted to her faith and sharing her love of God with others. Together with her husband they developed Touching Lives Compassionately, spreading the word of God to many homes. Dorothy had the gift of remembering her family and friends on their special days. Due to macular degeneration she did not travel but loved to watch and listen to the travel channel. She felt she went to the destinations that were featured. When she was not enjoying the peacefulness of silence, she would be found watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and This Old House. Dorothy was a very caring, loving, and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Tom; her sons, Gregory Homrich and Thomas (Pamela) Homrich, Jr.; her stepchildren, Anne Sherd, Joyce Kulkulski, Elizabeth (Mike) Van der Meulen, Lawrence Homrich, and Timothy (Pattie Nelson) Homrich; grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter-in-laws, Patricia Homrich and Lois Homrich, and her son-in-law Joe Kukulski.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15 from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 11am, with visitation beginning at 10am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Due to restrictions from COVID-19 there is a maximum number of people allowed inside the funeral home. You may be asked to wait before entering. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
