Donald G. Morgan

August 11, 1931 — June 27, 2024

Donald Gene Morgan, age 92, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on June 27, 2024.  He was born on August 11, 1931 in Venedocia, Ohio; son of Wendell and Edith (Cunningham) Morgan.  He graduated from Perrysburg High School in Perrysburg, Ohio; class of 1950 where he lettered in three different sports.  After graduation, Donald proudly served his country alongside his twin brother Ronald in the United States Air Force.  He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant while stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict, earning five separate awards for his service. While serving in the Air Force, he also played football for the Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Kent State University before transferring to Bowling Green State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and sales.

Donald found love again later in life, joining Janet Heath-Morgan in marriage on November 23, 1993; they were lovingly devoted to one another for over 31 years.  Donald worked as a salesman for Sheldon Supply for over 20 years. Dedicated and hardworking, he especially cherished the camaraderie and social aspect of his job.  Donald retired in 1997.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Northville for many years.  A faithful man, he spent countless hours volunteering at church serving as a Deacon, singing in the choir, and helping with videography.

Donald’s greatest passion was golf; he played as often as he could. He had a standing foursome at two separate courses in the area with the same group of friends for over 20 years.  He also participated in many leagues and was the golf coach for the Northville High School men’s team.  His love of sports didn’t stop at golf, he enjoyed sports and games of all kinds. Donald was happiest coaching and supporting his children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities.  He was an avid sports fan, always cheering for any Detroit team and the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Donald was very sociable and outgoing; he liked spending time with friends sharing a meal at favorite area restaurants.  Donald had a deep love and dedication to his family.  His role as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend reflects the significant impact he had on those around him, and the profound sense of loss felt by all who knew him.

Donald is survived by his wife Janet; his loving children, Jeffrey (Alice) Morgan and Judith (Robert) Singer; his stepchildren, Kelley (Tim) Faley, Kirsten (Christopher) Sullivan, Frederick “Chipper” (Stacy) Heath, Jr; his grandchildren, Nicholas Morgan, Lindsey Morgan, Natalie Singer, Jordan (Aery) Sullivan, Joshua Sullivan, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Diaz, Nicholas (Chelsea) Zuk, Matthew Zuk, Kortney Zuk, Kiley Heath, and Madison Heath; his Great Grandchildren,  Emma, Kameron, Kennedy, and Kensley; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Ronald Dean Morgan, and his siblings Evelyn Brahier, Martha Ward, Eleanor Hill, Richard Morgan, and Thomas Morgan.
