Donald A. Marion

Donald A. Marion, age 76, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away October 28, 2023. He was born on July 1, 1947 in Highland Park, Michigan; son of Arthur H. and Dorothy Mae (Erickson) Marion. Don grew up in the Southfield/Redford area before moving with his family to Livonia and graduating from Bentley High School.  He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal during the Vietnam War.

Don was united in marriage to Sandra J. Sagan on October 26, 1972; they were devoted to each other for over 33 years until her death in 2006. He worked as a diesel mechanic for A&P/Farmer Jacks for 32 years. Don chose to remain busy after retirement and would often be spotted at the Farmers Market in Northville working for Prielipp Farms.

Don was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his Marine Corps friends. Spending time at home taking care of his 5-acre property is where Don felt most at peace. He liked cutting the grass and maintaining his gardens. For entertainment, Don would go to the casino to play the slot machines or try his luck at scratch offs.

Don is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Brian Melidosian) Marion; his stepchildren, Tamara Clayton, Tina (Thomas) Cutrera, Tracy Conley, and Troy Anderson; his sister Terri (Jerry) Cassel; and his grandson Jase. He is also survived by many step grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers, Barry Marion and Kim Marion; and his stepson Thomas Anderson.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A celebration of Don's life will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 4pm until 8pm at the VFW Post 6695, 1426 S. Mill Street, Plymouth.
