Diane F. Scott

January 27, 1938 — May 7, 2020

Diane F. Scott, age 82 of Northville, passed away on May 7, 2020. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 27, 1938; daughter of Clarence and Frances (nee Ryzack) Pfent. Diane was united in marriage to Richard L. Scott on August 5, 1961; spending over 58 years devoted to each other. Diane and Dick began their family in St. Claire Shores, moved to Albion for 5 years, Plymouth for 23 years and finally to Northville for over 17 years.

Diane graduated from Denby High School, class of 1956. She continued her education at  Eastern Michigan University where she earned a Business Degree and a Teaching Certificate. Soon after graduating at Eastern, Diane began teaching at a middle school in Detroit and then an elementary school in St. Claire Shores before dedicating all her time, love, and attention to her most important job as a mom.

Diane was a wonderful woman who shared so much unconditional love with family and friends. She was passionate about travelling all over the world with her family. Her international travels included Bali, Bangkok, London, Scotland, Germany, Wales, Paris, Monte Carlo and so many more. She loved spending family vacations on Singer Island, Florida when her children were young and going to Las Vegas, Nevada just before Thanksgiving every year with her husband, her adult children, and their spouses. Diane enjoyed 32 years of travel with the “TNT” ladies from Meadowbrook, traveling all over the United States, loved her shopping trips to Boston with her daughter and sister in law Jean, and appreciated her yearly snowmobiling vacations to the family cottage in Lewiston. Every travel experience with Diane was filled with laughter and adventure regardless of the destination.

A life member of Meadowbrook, Diane liked golfing but mostly enjoyed the many social events she attended over the years and the friendships those evented created. She was a great cook, known for her Chicken and Dumplings that she made every Father’s Day, and an exceptional interior decorator who kept a highly organized home. Diane was the life of the party at many social gatherings; she was always the first to get there and the last to leave, as she loved to be surrounded by friends and family. She worked hard in her beautiful floral gardens and she was known for her gorgeous rose gardens. She loved the many dogs she had during her lifetime and kept active walking them daily with her friends and neighbors. Diane was a patient wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and gave every child and grandchild cherished memories that will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband Richard “Dick” Scott; her children, Jeffrey (Crystal) Scott, Judson (Amy) Scott, Jason (Joy) Scott, and Nichole (Jim) Gallagher; her brother Kenneth (Chris) Pfent; and her grandchildren,  Lauren, Jessica, and Lucas Scott; Judson Jr. and Alexander Scott; Jacob and Darby Scott; and Ryan and Sarah Gallagher. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy Delboy, and her brother-in-law Frank Delboy.

Due to the limitations and restrictions from COVID-19 the family will have private funeral service. A memorial mass celebrating Diane will be held at a later date.
