Dennis P. Mucci

January 15, 1950 — March 30, 2025

Livonia

Dennis P. Mucci, age 75, longtime resident of Livonia, passed away peacefully March 30, 2025. He was born on January 15, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Amol and Anne (Paul) Mucci. Dennis was united in marriage to Margaret R. Jaje, they spent 38 years lovingly devoted to one another.

Dennis was raised on Westwood in Detroit and began his education at St. Suzanne Elementary School, he then went on to the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, graduating in the Class of 1968. Dennis continued his studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

For over 30 years, Dennis enjoyed a successful career at Ford Motor Company as a Mechanical Engineer. Known for his problem-solving skills, he was methodical and thorough, making him an exceptional troubleshooter. As part of his role, he was tasked with testing new Ford vehicles, often driving cross-country to ensure everything functioned properly. Dennis was highly respected and well-liked by his colleagues. He spent many years golfing and bowling in Ford leagues and cherished the tradition of gathering monthly for lunch with former colleagues who became lifelong friends.

Dennis was a true "Car Guy" at heart, spending countless hours in his three-car garage working on his beloved car collection, which included a ’75 Corvette, Mustang, Fiero, Taurus Wagon, and Charger. He was always tinkering with them, often focusing on the engines to boost their power. Dennis took pride in handling all the mechanical work himself and was eager to share his expertise with others, offering advice to help with their car-related issues. He had a deep passion for cars, enjoying reading car magazines, browsing parts catalogs, and attending car shows, including the Woodward Dream Cruise.

Family was everything to Dennis. He was a devoted son, checking on his parents each day before and after work. He treasured the time spent with his wife, especially their trips to Florida, where they enjoyed visits to Hutchinson Island and later Anna Maria Island with their cousins and lifelong friends, Tom and Joan Mioduszewski. A faithful Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church for many years. After bravely battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and surviving a heart attack five years ago, Dennis faced both physical and mental challenges. Despite it all, he never lost his sense of humor or his deep gratitude for those who helped him. Dennis was loved dearly by his family and friends, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Mucci; his sister, Marlene Haas; his sister-in-law: Carol (Richard) Karabon; his nieces and nephews, Rick Haas, Elaine (Dan Weber) Bannon, Patrick (Renee) Karabon, and Kevin (Paige) Karabon; and his great nieces and great nephews, John Bannon, Alicia Weber, Joanne Weber, David Weber, Hailey Karabon, Callie Karabon, and Caleb Karabon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law James Haas.
