Dennis W. Deron, age 81, longtime resident of Northville, formerly of Canton, passed away August 5, 2023. He was born on April 7, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Edward and Nathalie (Wilkolaski) Deron. He grew up in Allen Park, Michigan and graduated from Allen Park High School; class of 1960. Following high school, Dennis enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served on the USCGC Sundew which was an ice cutter assigned to Charlevoix, Michigan. Dennis was united in marriage to Sharon Scott on June 19, 1965; they spent 58 years devoted to one another.
Dennis worked as a Heat and Frost Insulator for Local 25 for over 37 years before retiring in 2006.
Dennis was a skilled card player and a fierce competitor in the pinochle club he belonged to. He was a great cook and after retiring he turned his love for grilling into a job catering large events. Dennis was a talented woodworker and used his craft to build everything from small figurines to cribs to a grandfather clock. Known as a “jack of all trades” he had a knack for home improvement projects. He completely remodeled his home in Northville and built a house up north in Frederic. He enjoyed spending time in Frederic hunting for treasures at garage sales and flea markets. Dennis, who spoke Polish, was proud of his Polish heritage. He was incredible stoic and very self-sufficient, making sure others were always taken care of before himself. A good provider, Dennis was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be missed by all who knew him,
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Deron; his sons, Duane Deron and Shawn (Cathy) Deron; his brother Edward M. Deron; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son Dennis; his identical twin brother Gerald; and his parents.
The visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with Military Honors being rendered at 6:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. At his family’s request, his twin brother Gerald’s cremated remains will be placed in his casket for the visitation, and they will be laid to rest together at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. They came into the world together, enjoyed each other’s life and families and were be joined back together in death.
