Dawson J. Compo, age 18, of Northville, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2021. He was born on June 1, 2002 in Ann Arbor, Michigan; son of David and Michele (nee Pilat) Compo. Dawson was a proud graduate for Detroit Catholic Central High School, class of 2020. He completed his first semester at Michigan State University.
Dawson began working for the family company, Compo Builders, Inc. a few years ago. His job duties evolved from sweeper and cleaner to learning general carpentry skills, and most recently showing model homes. Dawson was a member of the Boy Scout Troop 755. He began as a cub scout progressed to a boy scout, he recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. His service project to become an Eagle Scout was rebuilding a shelter at Maybury State Park. An award ceremony was to take place this Spring.
Like his parents, Dawson had a strong faith in God and was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Victory Parish. He was an adventurous outdoorsman; he enjoyed hiking and extreme mountain biking with his dad. While at CC, Dawson was on the Track and Field Team and genuinely liked to run. He played the trombone for the Catholic Central band and was an emerging pianist. Dawson was a great friend and treasured the time he spent hanging out talking with friends. He was a trustworthy, loving, and loyal son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Dawson is survived by his grandmother Janet Compo; his aunts and uncles, Carole Smith, Christopher (Lisa) Compo, Paul (Annette) Compo, Mark Compo, Margaret (Jerry) Szpak, Paul Pilat, and Cheryl (Jim) Andrews. He is also survived by many loving cousins and friends. He tragically died with his mom and dad.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville. Due to the current restrictions, there is limited seating inside the church and gymnasium. Please use the link below to reserve your space .
