David J. Pike

May 12, 1954 — February 17, 2025

David J. Pike, age 70, of Unionville, passed away February 17, 2025. David was born on May 12, 1954 in Highland Park, Michigan; son of Richard and Gloria (Ager) Pike. David was united in marriage to Linda M. Opasik on June 15, 1974, devoted to their love for over 50years. Dave graduated from Cody High School in Detroit with the Class of 1972. Shortly after, he embarked on a lifelong career in woodworking, turning his talent and passion into a profession.

In 1982 Dave moved his family to New Port Richey, Florida. While living there, he founded Pikes Peak, a well-established custom cabinet and furniture company. In 1997, Dave and his family returned to Michigan, settling in Northville. Continuing his craft, he established Kitchen Creations, where he designed and built exquisite custom cabinetry and furniture. After a successful career, Dave retired in 2009 and moved to Unionville, where he and his wife settled into a home they built themselves.

Dave was a man of strong faith. Known for his generosity and kindness, he dedicated much of his time to serving others. While in Florida, he was an active member of Calvery Chapel and First Assembly of God where he participated in men’s prayer groups, the choir, and ushering. He also participated in numerous mission trips. One of his most memorable mission trips was working on the Good Samaritan Ship, before its departure out of St. Pete, Florida, to deliver life-changing supplies to those in need. While in Michigan he attended Colwood Church in Caro, Michigan. Always willing to lend a hand, Dave was a constant source of support and compassion for those around him.

Dave was an avid Beetles fan, even naming his daughter after one of their top hits. He enjoyed duck and deer hunting with his sons, brother-in-law and other family members. After retirement, he explored new crafts that highlighted his creativity. He took up forging, meticulously crafting intricate knives, and creating beautiful stained-glass art. A passionate sports fan, he loved to watch and play golf, spending weekends watching tournaments, and never passed up the chance to watch football.

Dave and Linda were known for their long road trips across the United States. Their first adventure began spontaneously after he refurbished a camper—they grabbed a map and simply drove. From that moment on, the journey never stopped. Dave had a deep love for exploring new destinations and experiencing the excitement of the open road. Family meant everything to Dave. He loved spending time with his grandkids, playing barbies, dress up and drawing with the girls, and rough housing with the boys. He took immense pride in teaching his children and grandchildren the skills they needed to succeed in life. He always stood firmly on the high ground of doing what was right, no matter the cost. Dave's unwavering dedication to his loved ones left a lasting legacy—one that will continue to inspire generations to come.

David is survived by his wife Linda; his children, Michael Pike, James (Kristyn) Pike, Michelle (Braden) Chmieleski, and Dayle (Meleana) Pike; his grandchildren, Kamryn Pike, Hailey Chmieleski, Bryson Chmieleski, Maddison Chmieleski, Camden Chmieleski, and Levi Pike; and his siblings, Richard (JoAnne) Pike, Donna (Brett Urban) Pike, and Barbara Pike. He was preceded in death by his parents.
