David L. Grunewald

May 29, 1953 — February 9, 2020

David Grunewald, age 66, passed quickly from us on February 9, 2020.  He was born May 29, 1953 in Gaylord, Michigan; son of Leonard and Peggy (nee Noirot) Grunewald. His childhood was spent in Gaylord until his family moved down state in 1966. David graduated from Northville High School; class of 1972. He was a retired craftsman with General Motors.

David was an avid gamer; forming a club he and his friends named the L.A.G.C.  He enjoyed attending yearly gaming conventions.  David studied history and the strategy of civilization. Known for his extraordinary kindness to both friends and animals, he had a keen internal sense of ethics and the courage to speak his mind in defense of what is right versus what is convenient.  Being open to all possibilities led him down a unique path of self-enlightenment that he freely and meaningfully shared with others.  He lived a life ahead of his time – appreciating the need to minimize your global footprint before the term even existed and connecting with others through the virtual world as your higher self.

He will be remembered with love by his dear sister Darla (Dave) Getschman; his soul-mate Joanne Sonstein; his god-daughter Terra Campbell, his spiritual children and grand-children Sara Beth and Jason Melton, Michelle & Thomas Kelly III, Bradyn Melton, Kobyn Melton, Thomas Kelly IV;  his nieces Stephanie (Jesse) Fleming and Eleanor Getschman; his friends Danny, Randy, Garrison, Ben and Jeff, and many more, and his most beloved felines Ricky and Little Girl Kitty.

One of David's life purposes was not only for this earth, but for the well-being of the entire universe. And even though he will be able to accomplish things much more easily and efficiently from the other side, it seems too unfair for him to leave so soon. David was a great energy healer...and will still be extraordinary!

Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Grass Lake Sanctuary , PO Box 130842, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48113.
