Daniel N. Serowiecki, age 82, of Northville previous longtime resident of Addison, Illinois, passed away December 5, 2019. He was born November 27, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois; son of Alexander and Sophie (Halas) Serowiecki. He was united in marriage to Jeanette C. Sikora on August 22, 1959; devoted to each other for over 60 years.
Daniel had dual degrees; he received the first from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois and later his MBA from Loyola University in Chicago. He was a pharmacist for many years until he transitioned to a health and beauty buyer and merchandiser for Osco Drugs based in Chicagoland.
Dan enjoyed hunting deer and pheasant with his best friend and brother Gilbert. He was a big sport fisherman; he spent as much time on his fishing boat on Lake Michigan as he could. Dan was most proud of his 24lb salmon catch. His love of the outdoors extended to his family farms and ecological and conservational projects. Dan also liked collecting coins, golfing, and was interested in photography. Among many hobbies was his passion for antique cars. He owned a 1947 Packard and was a member of Chicagoland Packard Club. Dan was a hardworking intelligent businessman. He was a man of very few words but the words he chose were strong and meaningful.
Daniel is survived by his wife Jeanette; his daughter Jacqueline (Paul) Pebbles; his brother Melvin (Loraine) Serowiecki; his sisters-in-law Barbara Serowiecki and Amelia Sikora; his granddaughters, Sophie Pebbles, Sarah Pebbles, and Rose Pebbles; and his nieces, Susan Serowiecki, Denise Serowiecki, Jessica (Ben) Serowiecki-Enerson, Jennifer (Bryan) Aitkens, and Blair Wittig. He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend and brother Gilbert Serowiecki.
The visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A funeral mass will be held Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 46325 West Ten Mile Road, Novi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
