Curt E. Schneider, age 69, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on September 30, 2024. He was born on September 2, 1955 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan; son of Horst G. and Helen I. (Scholl) Schneider. Curt was a devoted son and protective older brother who continued to care for his siblings throughout his life. His bright sense of humor, kindness, and commitment to making the world a better place will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Curt's strong work ethic was deeply rooted in his hardworking German heritage. “Can’t” was never an option – he always found a way and never gave up. Throughout his life, he served wherever he was needed, whether in a restaurant, at an automotive dealership, or in a small machine repair business. His unwavering dedication to both his job and employer was truly unmatched.
Curt was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville, dedicated to serving in many roles within the parish. He was a trusted confidant of Father Denis and demonstrated his devotion to his faith and his church through his loyal service to Our Lady of Victory and its congregation. Curt was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a Fourth Degree Knight and exemplified the core principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Curt took immense pride in his commitment to Alcoholics Anonymous, remaining sober for over 36 years. His AA friends fondly recall how he wore a tuxedo each year to receive his sobriety chip, a testament to his dedication and inspiration to others. Curt supported countless others through their struggles with addiction, always offering a helping hand and words of support, no matter the challenge.
A passionate animal lover, especially of dogs, Curt earned the nickname "the dog whisperer" in his neighborhood and lovingly cared for family pets over the years. His love for classic and antique cars and fixing small engines was well known to those around him. Curt loved to tell stories, beginning each tale with a memorable "Well..."—a sure sign that his listeners were in for a glimpse into his unique perspective on life.
Curt is survived by his siblings, Eric (Linda) Schneider and Linda (Greg) Barterian; his nieces and nephew, Keri (Matt) Smith, Matthew Schneider, Emma Barterian, Sophie Barterian, and Charlotte Barterian; and his great niece and nephews, Drew, Jace, Evan, and Mylo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
