Christopher Smith

May 11, 1963 — December 27, 2023

Loren Christopher Smith, age 60, of Pinckney, formerly of Northville, passed away December 27, 2023.  He was born on May 11, 1963 in Wayne, Michigan; son of Franklin and Joan (Perkowski) Chakrabarty.  Christopher was united in marriage to Tina M. Peace on January 16, 2016; they spent 7 years lovingly devoted to one another.

Christopher graduated from Plymouth-Salem High School; class of 1981. He continued his education at Eastern Michigan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  Christopher then attended the University of Detroit Mercy Law School.  Remarkably, he earned a Juris Doctor in 1990 while battling cancer and often having to study in the hospital with his brother, Reid, reading to him. Christopher was a member of the Bar Association.

In 1996, Christopher established his own business, C.D. Services Inc., which delivered premier quality assistance in the requisition, procurement, and organization of records for litigation matters. His top priority was providing exceptional customer service. He was well respected by his customers and team.  He considered each of his employees as part of his family. At one point or another, he even employed many of his own family and friends.

Although he was in a wheelchair for the last 10 years, Christopher never let that slow him down. He always had a positive attitude and lived life to the fullest.  He was incredibly active and enjoyed fishing, amusement rides at Disney, swimming, and many other activities. Christopher was big fan of University of Michigan football and was a season ticket holder. He loved taking road trips in his 2017 C7 Corvette Stingray, traveling to the Corvette Museum in Kentucky or anywhere else his car took him. He also traveled to Florida, Nashville, Chicago, and many other locations. When not on road trips, Christopher would take his family on vacations to Aruba, Miami, Hawaii, Disney World, and cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean.

Christopher’s greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends.  He adored his grandsons and nephews. He always supported them in all of their extracurricular activities, and some of his favorite memories were with them.  Each year he would host the holidays celebrating with family and many friends who were like family. He also enjoyed dining out at his favorite restaurants in the company of good friends.

Christopher had an excellent sense of humor, but was even more so, known for his compassion and giving nature. He would give you the shirt off his back. He was philanthropic and readily supported any causes that were important to not only him, but to his family and friends. In particular, he was a strong supporter and benefactor of the Wayne County Honor Guard.

Christopher is survived by his wife, Tina Smith; his stepdaughter, Brittany (Mitchell) Darrow; his brother, Reid (Kimberly) Chakrabarty; his grandchildren, Miller and Conner; nephews Scottlar and Hunter; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that dearly loved him.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – Noon, followed by a Memorial Service at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap St, Northville.
