Christopher Smith

Christopher Smith, age 68, of Northville, formerly of Livonia, passed away June 23, 2020. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan; son of David and Patricia (nee Weirich) Smith.  He graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne; Class of 1970.  He continued his education at Northern Michigan University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Christopher was united in marriage to Nancy A. Kempa on August 17, 1985; they spent 34 loving years together as husband and wife.

Christopher was a member of Northville Moose Lodge 1190 where he volunteered to cook for dining functions.  Known as a great cook, he made delicious chili.  He enjoyed spending time outside, often sitting quietly and watching the animals he would feed in his yard, including squirrels, birds, deer, and rabbits.  Christopher liked to travel, his favorite places to visit were Bonita Springs and Fort Meyers in Florida.  He participated in Civil War reenactments in Virginia and won many medals in the shooting competitions they held.  Christopher adored his dog Diesel and read the paper with him each day.  He genuinely loved his family and cherished the time they spent together.

Christopher is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Smith; his daughters, Stephanie Smith and Jennifer (fiancé Aaron Zielinsky) Smith; his siblings, Mark Smith, Kevin Smith, Connie (Marvin) Leaym, Susan (William) Young, and Kim (Joseph) Lepish; and many nieces and nephews.
