Charles B. Jones

Age 74, of Northville, formerly a longtime resident of Dearborn, passed away on April 29, 2022. He was born on June 23, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Charles J. and Mary E. (Taylor) Jones.  He graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn; Class of 1965.  Following high school, he graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a bachelor’s degree in education.  Chuck was united in marriage to Kathleen Ketten on June 20, 1969; they spent 43 years lovingly devoted to one another until her death on November 1, 2012.

Chuck worked as a seventh-grade earth science and history teacher at Shrine Catholic Academy in Royal Oak.  He retired after more than 30 years of teaching.

Chuck was an avid reader, preferring history, and non-fiction books.  A backyard birdwatcher, he enjoyed spending time on his patio surrounded by the plants and flowers he grew and cared for.  He also grew tomatoes, a pastime he continued after years of living at his home in Dearborn that had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.  Chuck had a hidden talent for cooking and grilling.  He was most proud of his ham and bean soup and always brought his delicious baked beans to family events. An avid sports fan, he cheered for all the hometown teams and U of M.  Chuck was a music buff whose taste ranged from classical to classic rock.  He kept current with events that were going on in the world and most importantly what was happening in his grandchildren’s lives.  He liked a good, spirited discussion with family over politics and other topics.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by those that knew him.

Chuck is survived by his loving children, Meghan (William) Irving and Lindsey Jones; and his grandchildren, Owen, Sophia, and Mason.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Jones and his parents.

A Time of Gathering will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  He will be laid to rest with his wife at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
