Carol L. Walker

Carol L. Walker, age 89, of Novi, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024. Born on November 8, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of William and Harriet (Bauman) Walker.

Carol graduated from Denby High School in 1953 and pursued further education at a business school in Detroit. She worked as an executive secretary in the Drafting Department at General Motors, dedicating her talents to the company until her retirement in 1992. While working she enjoyed bowling with coworkers at General Motors ladies group. Carol continued her dedication to GM and their employees by being a part of the retirement group and helping with the Christmas luncheon.

After retiring, Carol channeled her energy and compassion into volunteering at St. John Hospital in Detroit, selflessly giving countless hours to helping others. Her dedication to service was a testament to her kind and caring nature.

One of Carol’s greatest passions was music, particularly singing. She was a proud member of the Great Lakes Chapter of Sweet Adelines and cherished the honor of being part of the group when they triumphed in the National Sing-off. She also fondly remembered performing at Carnegie Hall with Sweet Adelines. In 1988, Carol embarked on an unforgettable journey with the group, performing in the Netherlands, Scotland, and England.

Traveling was another deep love of Carol’s. Her adventures began in 1966 with a remarkable trip to the Middle East. Whether exploring with friends or venturing out on her own, Carol embraced the joy of discovering new places. Among her many journeys, her most memorable was a trip to France, Italy, and Germany, shared with a dear friend.

Carol is survived by her sister-in-law Bette Walker; her nephew Michael (Pamela) Walker; her niece Marin (Fred) Huscher; her great niece Kate and her great nephew Fred. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Kenneth Walker.
