Boris V. Stecko

Age 64, of Northville, formerly a longtime resident on Dearborn, passed away on January 13, 2022. He was born on September 11, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Iwan and Anastasia (Rudenko) Stecko. He graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn; Class of 1975.  Following graduation, he attended University of Michigan Dearborn where he earned a bachelor's degree in English.

Boris wrote poetry and loved listening to music, especially classic rock.  He was an avid reader and preferred classic literature; one of his favorite authors was Henry Miller.  Boris was a baseball fan and always rooted for the Detroit Tigers.  On occasion, he enjoyed a good scotch and a cigar.  He liked birds and sharing his knowledge about them with others.  Boris was incredibly kind and generous; he also had a dry witty sense of humor.  He made friends easily; his quiet and reserved manner made him easy to talk to.  Boris truly cared about others and was a great listener.

He is survived by his loving brother, Vladimir “Walt” (Deborah) Stecko; and many cousins and dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon with a Memorial Service at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.  Deacon Ric Misiak from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville will officiate the service.  Mr. Stecko will be laid to rest with his parents at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn.
