Bienvenida “Minnie” Ramirez

Age 83, of Northville, passed away on July 18, 2022. She was born on January 28, 1939, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico; daughter of Manuel Martinez and Ernestina Serrano. She was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Ramirez on February 22, 1963; celebrating over 59 loving years as husband and wife.

Minnie graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics. After graduation she began an internship through Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Upon completing the internship in 1962 she began a 30-year career as a Dietitian with Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois. After retirement she moved to Belleville, Michigan and resided there for twenty years before moving to Northville.

She was a devoted member of Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church in Livonia. Her faith played an important role in her life. Minnie was a strong Christian woman, an avid reader and believed in lifelong learning. She was a mentor to younger generations encouraging them to study, go to college, work hard and never give up. These were core values she instilled in everyone who met her. Minnie loved to travel, visiting friends and family. Her favorite destination always being her hometown, Los Canos, Puerto Rico. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

Minnie is survived by her husband Tony; her daughters, Patty (Ken) Martin and Sandy (Joe) Vargo; her siblings, Junior (Gloria) Martinez, Minerva (Kike) Valencia, Damaris Centano, and Migdalia Serrano; and her grandchildren, Rachel Martin, Peter Martin, Jacob Vargo, Christian Martin, Joe Vargo, Elena Vargo, and Maddie Vargo. She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel Martinez and Ernestina Serrano, her brother Ruben Martinez, her sister-in-law Rafaela Martinez, and her brother-in-law Gilberto Centano.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00am at Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church, 9601 Hubbard Street, Livonia. Rev. Kellie Whitlock will officiate the service. Following the service, a memorial luncheon will be held at Big Tommy’s Parthenon in Novi, Michigan.
