Bernadine T. Pytlak, age 75, of Northville, formerly of Dearborn and Port Richey, FL, passed away on January 18, 2019. She was born October 12, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Stanley and Evelyn (nee Moran) Merta. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Pytlak on November 4, 1967; devoted to each other for almost 50 years until his death in 2017.
Bernadine lived in Dearborn for over 40 years until moving to Port Richey, Florida in 2007. She returned to Michigan 10 years later and made Northville her home. She was a dedicated teacher at St. Alphonsus Catholic School in Dearborn; Bernadine retired in 1996.
She was a very talented seamstress and cook. Her signature meal was Golabki (Polish cabbage rolls). She loved to read and enjoyed gardening. Her garden was full of delicious organic vegetables. Bernadine was a supportive wife, a proud mother, and a doting grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Erik (Michael Millard) Pytlak and Stephanie (Ron) Leicht; her brother David Merta; and her grandchildren, Evelyn and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:30am, instate at 9:30am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard, Northville.
