Audrey A. Hines

Age 93, longtime resident of Northville, passed away on July 5, 2021. She was born October 19, 1927 in Clawson, Michigan; daughter of Oscar and Norma (nee Andrus) Graham.    She graduated from Walled Lake High School; Class of 1945.  Audrey was united in marriage to Robert L. Hines on December 2, 1950; they spent 70 years lovingly devoted to one another as husband and wife.

While her sons were in school Audrey worked in the cafeteria at Northville High School.  She later began a career as a bank teller with Manufacturers Bank in downtown Northville where she worked for many years before retiring in the early 1990’s.

Audrey was a member of First Baptist Church of Northville.  Active with the church, she taught Sunday school, led youth groups, sang in the choir, and cooked for church events.  Her faith was very important to her, she was a devout Christian and read the bible in its entirety.

Audrey was a wonderful cook and baker.  She made delicious fried chicken for Sunday dinners and loved cooking meals and hosting family for the holidays.   She made amazing pies, cakes, and   cookies; her baked lemon pie was a family favorite.  Audrey enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and collecting dolls.  She was an avid reader, particularly Christian fictional books, and Missionary stories.  Audrey liked to spend time with family and play games, especially number and word games like Yahtzee and Scrabble.  Her greatest joy was her family; she adored her grandchildren and felt blessed to be a part of their daily lives.  Audrey had a special bond with her granddaughters and cherished the time she spent with them.

Audrey is survived by her beloved husband, Robert L. Hines; her son, Robert L. (Julie) Hines, Jr.; her grandchildren, Christian (Adrienne) Hines, Amber (Ryan) Somerville, Emily Redman, Robert (Lisa) Hines, Evan Hines, Andrew Hines, and Brendan Hines; her great grandchildren, Drew, Nick, Charlotte, Aiden, Adelyne, Lydia, Nora, Josie, Cate, Israel, and Sterling; her siblings, Pauline Tait and Larry (Berva) Graham; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son Richard L. Hines, her parents, and her sister Lucille Martin.

The Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., in state beginning at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 217 North Wing Street, Northville.  A luncheon at the church will immediately follow the service.  A graveside service will be held at 1:45 p.m. at Salem Walker Cemetery, 7150 Angle Road, Northville.
