Anna M. Malecki

Age 96, a longtime resident of Northville passed away on February 5, 2023. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 27, 1926; daughter of Andrew and Anna (Pillar) Demchak. Ann, as known by her family and friends, graduated from Cass Technical High School, class of 1944. Following graduation, she began a career as a teller with Manufacturer’s National Bank in Detroit. Ann quickly climbed to a leadership position within the bank becoming an account manager and a trainer.  Ann met the love of her life, James “Jim” Malecki, soon after he returned from the Service and started working with her at the bank. They were united in marriage on May 15, 1948; spending over 59 years together until his death in 2007.

Ann was very devoted to God and her faith. Praying the Rosary was an integral part of her life. She was equally devoted to her family. Ann was a grandma to many of her nieces and nephews.  A woman with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, she loved learning and often asked her nieces and nephews questions to learn more.

Ann had many hobbies that she took very seriously and shared with her husband. These included collecting butterflies, bird watching, beekeeping, cooking, baking, flower gardening, among others. Ann and Jim turned beekeeping into a small business, selling honey to local markets and winning prizes for their honey.  Her baking talents enabled her to win 1st prize at the Michigan State fair for her Nut Rolls. She was an exceptional seamstress; even making her own drapes for her house. Ann was extremely dedicated to her crafts and hobbies.

An extensive international traveler, Ann’s favorite destination was Australia, but she also enjoyed trips to Rome, where she was supposed to meet the Pope, cruising Europe, and visiting South America. Ann enjoyed playing cards; including Kings in the Corner and 5 Crown. A woman that insisted on honesty; she was a very proper and practical, but also a fun friend to all who knew her. Ann will be deeply missed.
