Age 77, of South Lyon, formerly of Detroit, passed away December 8, 2012. She was born April 10, 1935 in Ironwood, MI; daughter of Richard and Wilma (nee Korhonen) Rushford. A graduate of McKenzie High School in 1953; she was a resident of Detroit until 2005. She was united in marriage to Richard A. Kuzdak on November 22, 1956; and they spent 56 loving years together. Carol was a devoted homemaker, who loved her family and getting everyone together. She adored children and was very animated when reading them stories; for example while reading nursery rhymes, she would dress up as Mother Goose. Carol loved music, especially Neil Diamond, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Harry Belafonte. She was also a huge John Wayne, Jay Leno, and Jeopardy fan. She was an avid reader, excellent cook, seamstress, and enjoyed playing scrabble. She was very knowledgeable about different cultures and the many places she visited. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard A. Kuzdak; her children, Kenneth (Anna Winiarski-Kuzdak), Kathryn (Stephen) Bizek, Corinn (the late Donald) Fader, Karen (William) Beliveau, Richard (Lisa), Randal (Michele), Ron (Nancy), and Susan (Brandon) Smith; her grandchildren, Christian, Stephanie, Keith, Gretchen, Hillary (Kyle), Abigail, Giana, Douglas, Ricky, Jack, Randal, Sarah, Mitchell, Noah, Laurel, Maxim, and Malea; her siblings, Richard Rushford, Sandra Abraham, Virginia Leto, and Carla (John) Martinez; her brother-in-law, Melvin Weaverling; her sister-in-law, Donna Kuzdak; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Marianne Weaverling and Donna Sanchez; her brothers-in-law, Joseph Leto and Roger Kuzdak; and her sister-in-law, Patti Rushford. The visitation will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 59255 10 Mile Road, South Lyon. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Noon, she will be in state at 11:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 S. Lafayette, South Lyon.
