Janice A. Steele

Janice A. Steele Age 74, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away December 11, 2012. She was born November 5, 1938 in Detroit; daughter of Edward and Helen (Zimmel) Barta. She has been a loving and devoted wife of Richard Steele for 54 years. Janice received her Master of Education specializing in Learning Disabilities from Wayne State University; she retired from the Dearborn Public Schools after 20 years of teaching. Since retirement Janice has worked with her husband and son at their family business, Rent-A-Jalopy. For the last 10 years she travelled to her home in Big Pine Key, Florida to stay warm during the Michigan winters. Janice was an excellent cook; she loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a very tender, loving, and caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband Richard; her son Kerry (Kathie McCarthy) Steele; her brother Ross (Marilyn) Barta; her grandchildren, Richard (Laura) Pettitpren, Nichole Maisano, and Justina Maisano; her great grandchildren, Skyler and Elizabeth; her niece Dana (David) Crossgrove; and her nephew Michael (Heidi) Barta. She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of Janice's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to a charity of your choice.
