Emily Lillian Miller

Emily L. Miller Age 96, a lifelong resident of Northville, passed away February 18, 2013. She was born November 7, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Louis and Helena (Schenk) Petroit. She was united in marriage to George E. Miller on November 15, 1936; they spent 63 loving years together until his death in 1999. In 1938 George and Emily began a family business in downtown Northville; G.E. Miller Sales and Service, a Dodge dealership. They owned and operated the business from 1938-1979. Emily enjoyed golfing, gardening, crocheting and knitting. Her favorite pastime was shelling on Sanibel Island in Florida; she had an extensive shell collection. She loved go to garage sales, where she always had a keen eye for finding treasures. Emily was very knowledgeable about antiques and was a past member of the Questers Club. She was also a life member of the Northville Mother's Club and the Northville Garden Club. She is survived by her sons, George (Carol) Miller and Victor (Sandra) Miller; her grandchildren, Jody (Tammy) Miller, Carrie (Edward) Baer, George B. Miller, and Lisa (David) Mote; and her great grandchildren, Bryan, Jenna, Brandon, Michael, and Lillian. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Eleanor Saunders, Martha Vowell, and Helen Baggett; and her brothers, David Petroit and Louis Petroit, Jr. Visitation will be held Friday, February 22, 2013 from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11am, with visitation beginning at 10am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
