William F. Vandermass

William F. VanderMass Age 89, of Northville, passed away February 19, 2013. He was born June 11, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan; son of William and Leona (Mosser) VanderMass. William proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University. He was the Vice President of Sales for Allis Chalmers; during his working life he lived in various states. After retirement he spent his time between Mecosta, Michigan and Lakeland, Florida. William was an avid golfer who loved to spend time with his family on and off the course. He liked listening to big band music and enjoyed dancing. He also enjoyed fishing and adored dogs. William was a stock market enthusiast who led a very active social life. Most importantly, William was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan. He is survived by his sons, Bill (Barb) VanderMass and Richard (Judie) VanderMass; his grandchildren Richard (Kristin) VanderMass, Jamie (Trevor) Kliebert, Erik (Karen) VanderMass, Kristofer (Kelly) VanderMass, and Jacqui VanderMass; and his great grandchildren Allison and Cason Kliebert. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Jessie VanderMass, whom he married on November 17, 1948 and they spent 40 loving years together until her death in 1988; and his second wife Geraldine McNamara, whom he married on October 30, 1989 and they spent 18 cherished years together until her death in 2007. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 3-5:30pm with a funeral service beginning at 5:30pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.
