Faessler, Marjorie Ann A longtime resident of Northville, passed away April 7, 2013 at the age of 88. Born September 7, 1924 in Detroit to Chauncey and Retta (Cruse) Walker; she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jane Smith and her brother William Walker. A graduate of Detroit's Commerce High School, she attended Michigan State University before, like so many of her generation, being called to duty. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served her country with honor and enthusiasm during World War II. A beloved mother and grandmother, professionally she managed several large orthopedic physician groups, the last group based out of Botsford Hospital. An avid golfer, one of her most memorable moments was shooting a hole-in-one at the age of 80. An active member of her community, she served on the Northville Township Beautification Commission and was a member and Past President of the Northville Garden Club. Tireless to the end, she enjoyed making and selling Christmas wreaths to neighbors and Northville merchants to raise scholarship funds on behalf of the Garden Club. So, the next time you see a wreath, think of Marge. She is survived by her three daughters; Nancy A. Faessler of Marina Del Ray, CA; Mary (Bill) Bakhaus of South Lyon, and Marilyn J. Catik of W. Babylon, NY; her grandsons Gregory Catik and Michael Catik both of Farmingdale, NY; nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the clubhouse of Highland Lakes, 20301 Silver Spring Drive, Northville. Visitation will begin at 1pm, service at 2pm, immediately followed by a fellowship gathering of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Lung Association, Disabled American Veterans, or the Northville Garden Club in loving memory of Marge.
