Mary D. Azar

Mary D. Azar Age 84, passed away peacefully May 14, 2013. She was born May 8, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Dominac and Angeline (Giuliani) Dettore. Mary graduated from St. Mary's of Redford in Detroit, class of 1946. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell for over 30 years. She was united in marriage to Daniel Azar on October 6, 1951; they celebrated 50 loving years together until his death in 2001. Mary enjoyed gardening, bird watching and antiquing. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She was a very wise, selfless, and compassionate mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Ilene) Azar, David Azar, Diana (Daniel) Mercier, Mitchell (Marie) Azar, and Roseanne (Garth) VanCura; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeanette, Amy, James, Bryan, Daniel, Lisa, Stephanie, Amber, David, Mitchell, Julia, Rob, Garth, Dane, Chad, Bruce, and Jenna; and her great grandchildren, Maria, Daniel, Nicholas, Austin, Zachary, Maya, Anna, Bryan, Ava, Gabriel, Ethan, Vanessa, Victoria, and Vivionna. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 6 brothers, and 1 sister. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16 from 1-8pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, May 17 at 11am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard, Northville. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Heart Association.
