Gunar Donald Christensen

Gunar D. Christensen Age 59, of Novi, passed away July 15, 2013. He was born December 21, 1953 in Lansing, Michigan; son of Donald and Shawmut (Stitt) Christensen. Gunar lived in Novi since 2005; he was previously of the Boston, MA area, Rochester Hills, MI and Louisville, KY. He received his BS in Nursing and a second BS in Physical Chemistry from Mount Saint Mary College in New York. He later received his MBA from Eastern Michigan University. Gunar was a nurse at U of M Hospital before becoming a Healthcare Administrator; a position he held from 1989-2007. Gunar proudly served in the US Army for 8 years. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Northville. Gunar enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar. He was an exceptional cook and was a professional chef before entering the healthcare field. Gunar was a caring and generous father. He was very outgoing intelligent and quick-witted. He would captivate you when he told a story. Gunar is survived by his daughter, 2 stepchildren, his mother, and 4 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 20 from 4-8pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 21 at 3:30pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 East Main Street, Northville. Rev. Dr. Robert Allen will officiate the service. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the First Presbyterian Church of Northville.
