Kynis Maynor, Jr.

Age 68, of Brighton, passed away on July 29, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 16, 1945 in Lumberton, North Carolina; son of Kynis and Madis (Lowry) Maynor, Sr. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in 1968. Following his graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Major in 1988 after 20 years of service. Kyn married the love of his life, Chryal L. Baker on May 10, 1969 and was a devoted husband for 44 years. After his retirement from the Army he was self-employed government contractor, ultimately retiring in 2012. Kynis adored his family; he was an ambitious father and his family's hero. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association; passionate about aviation he enjoyed being a helicopter pilot. Kyn, a volunteer firefighter, also enjoyed travelling and beekeeping. He is survived by his loving wife, Chyral L. Maynor; his children, Brent (Melissa) Maynor and Nicole Maynor; his mother, Madis Maynor; his grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Isabelle, Ethan, and Alexandria; and his siblings, Sheila (Mike) Ritchie, Ron (Reenie) Maynor, Dwight (Dawn) Maynor, and Annette (Gottfried) Kreutz. He was preceded in death by his father. The visitation will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. with visitation beginning 9:30 a.m. at Ward Presbyterian Church, 40000 Six Mile Road, Northville. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.
