Iris D. Shoner Age 88, a longtime resident of Northville, went to be with the Lord September 11, 2013. She was born May 31, 1925 in Farmer Township, Ohio; daughter of Vern and Thirza (Parnum) Hitt. Iris was united in marriage to Eugene Shoner on May 6, 1944; they spent 55 loving years together until his death in 1999. Iris loved gardening; the Garden Club of Northville awarded her with the "Garden of the Month" award. She brought smiles to the neighbors on Randolph Street when she decorated her picture window with her dolls and teddy bears during different holidays dressing them in different outfits for the special occasions. Iris adored her family and cherished spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her children, Connie (Paul) Luebkert, Judy (Bill) George, Jackie (Phil) Layton, Roxanne Loew, Jim (Kathy) Shoner, and Robin (Renee) Shoner; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and her granddaughters Jamie Luebkert and Kelli Nichols. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 16 at 11am with visitation beginning at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Northville. Pastor Jonathan Wilkes will preside over the home going celebration. She will be laid to rest at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Clarkston.
