Donald V. Konieczny Age 79, of Northville, formerly of Livonia, passed away on September 18, 2013. He was born May 31, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Leo Konieczny and Helen Stark. Donald proudly served his country in the US Navy following the Korean War; he served on a flag ship in the Mediterranean. He was united in marriage on April 25, 1959 to Catherine J. Conrad; they spent 54 loving years together. Donald, a barber, was the owner of Don's Barber Shop in Redford Township for 25 years; he enjoyed socializing and talking politics with his customers until just recently. He was a history buff; he was especially knowledgeable about the history of Europe and he also enjoyed astronomy. He kept up with current events and had a strong opinion regarding his views. Donald was an avid stamp collector and had a nice collection of US stamps. He is survived by his loving wife Catherine; his sons, Don Konieczny and Christian Konieczny; his grandsons, Evan Bartone and Brent Bartone; his brothers, Lawrence (Donna) Konieczny and Leon (Suzanne) Konieczny; his stepmother Winifred Konieczny; and his stepbrother Jerry Hubert. He was preceded in death by his daughter Ann Bartone, his father Leo Konieczny, his mother Helen Stark, his stepfather Albert Stark, and his sister Bunny Boccomino. Visitation will be held Monday, September 23, 2013 from 10am until Noon with a memorial service beginning at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.
