Stephen P. Smith

September 23, 1947 — February 7, 2014

Stephen P. Smith Age 66, of Stockbridge, passed away surrounded by his family on February 7, 2014. He was born on September 23, 1947 in Northville, Michigan; son of Leland and Virginia (nee Litsenberger) Smith. Steve has lived in Stockbridge for the past 10 years; he was previously of South Lyon. A 1965 graduate of Northville High School, Steve worked as a mechanic and in the parts department with Fox Hills Chrysler Dealership for over 30 years. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and belongs to the body of Christ. Smitty, as many lovingly referred to him, loved antique cars, hot rods, model cars, and trains. He enjoyed collecting model trains and building model cars since he was a child. Like many friends in Michigan, Steve enjoyed snowmobiling. He was very meticulous; there was a place for everything and everything was in its place. Steve was a very kind and patient man. He was a loving father and was always there for his daughters when they needed him. Steve is survived by his daughters Stephanie (fiancée Mike Crisp) Smith, Heather Smith, and his non-adopted, adopted daughter Angela Bice; his sisters Sandra (Robert) Wagonschutz and Carolynn Beyer; and his devoted girlfriend Patricia Wachtel. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Francis Smith, and his sister Janice Smith-Nowland. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to American Red Cross, P.O. Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340 or Volunteers of America, Donation Department, 1660 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
