Age 69, of Livonia, formerly of Northville, passed away April 18, 2014. He was born on October 25, 1944 in Northville, Michigan; son of Charles W. and Ruth E. (nee Willman) Elwell, Sr. Bill was united in marriage to Helen F. Lucas on March 12, 1971, and they spent 43 loving years together. He worked Admissions and the Winner's Circle at Northville Downs, retiring after almost 30 years. He also retired from General Motors after working at GM Truck and Bus in Pontiac for 20 years. Bill was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Northville. He was also a member of Northville Eagles and the American Legion in Port Austin. Bill loved anything to do with the sport of golf; he was an avid player, he volunteered at the Senior Open at Indianwood Golf Course in Lake Orion, and even worked as a ranger at Tanglewood in Novi. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen F. Elwell; and his cherished son, William "Bill" (Candice) Elwell. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Pastor Christopher Fairbairn from St. Paul's Lutheran Church will officiate the service.
