Calvin F. Long Living in his 90th year, of Farmington Hills, formerly of Pontiac, went to his Lord on May 19, 2014. He proudly served two tours of duty in the US Navy; the first during World War II and the second during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Paula D. Ulrich on May 22, 1948; this year would have marked their 66th Wedding Anniversary. Calvin received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Worchester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. He was a salesman with Elco; starting his career in 1960 and retiring in 1987. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Northville since 1994. He was also a member of the American Society of Lubrication Engineers and the Society of Automotive Engineers. Calvin enjoyed playing bridge and golf. He is survived by his wife Paula; his children, Diana (Gene) Bailey, David (Jill) Long, and Dale (Patty) Long; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mildred, Mary Jane, and Betty Lou. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 23, 2014 at 11am; he will be lying in state beginning at 10am at the First United Methodist Church, 777 West Eight Mile, Northville. Rev. Marsha M. Woolley will officiate the service. Full military honors will be rendered at church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions would be appreciated to the First United Methodist Church or a charity of the giver's choice.
