Mary Elva, age 88 of Northville Twp, MI passed away on June 8, 2014 after a strong and courageous battle. Mary was born on September 4, 1925 in Mason, OH to George Olen Meek and Elva Tucker Meek. She was the 5th oldest of 7 children, and was preceded in death by her 6 siblings. Mary grew up in Mason and graduated from Mason High School in 1943. She moved to the Detroit, MI area in 1964 with her husband Robert (deceased) and their children. She soon became employed by the Ford Motor Co., SVC & Parts Division, and retired in 1988 at a level 5 Grade. She enjoyed her career at Ford and made many friends there. Mary was always strong in her faith and became a member of the Detroit First Church of the Nazarene in Novi, MI in 1987. Mary was very active in the church programs and affairs. She developed a great love for its members, and it showed in all the things she did and the people she befriended. Mary will be sadly missed by all. "An Acknowledgement for a Special Woman, Our Mother and Grandmother" Because you care, you came to share Beautiful flowers and words of prayers Because you cared enough to do, Words of comfort and cards came too Because you cared, we were not alone Calls and visits reached hospital and home Because you cared, we're grateful in deed, You've been a comfort to a friend in need Because you cared, we're able to bear The grief and sorrow, there is no despair Because you cared, we're praying too For God's richest blessings, Mommie, for you. Mary, when hearing of the death of someone would always find comfort in these verses; John 14:1-3, John 11:25-26, and Psalm 91. We hope they are a comfort for you too. A list of her Grandchildren is as follows: (Roger) William and Rebeka; (Robert) Angela, Amanda, Bobby, Emily, Thomas; (Susan) Cassia, Stacia, Alicia, Rebecca, Raymond; (Sheryl) Rachel and Scott; (Sheila) Robert and Erica.
