Barbara A. Figueiredo Age 80, a lifelong resident of Northville passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2014. She was born in Northville on May 8, 1934; daughter of James and Grace (nee Spangler) Lower. She was united in marriage to Richard Figueiredo on November 5, 1952; they spent 59 loving years together until his death on July 9, 2011. For over 20 years Barbara worked as a nurses aid with the Plymouth Center for Human Development. More importantly she was a devoted wife, caring mother and cherished grandmother. Barbara and Richard loved traveling all over the United States; many trips were spent camping. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed creating crafts through needlepoint, sewing, and crocheting. Barbara also liked birdwatching and both vegetable and flower gardening. Barbara is survived by her children Brian (Pam) Figueiredo, Mark Figueiredo, and Kim (Ken) Stratford; her sister Joan (Robert) Bennett; her aunt Iva Price; her grandchildren Brian (Lana) Figueiredo, Toresa (Dan) Piper, Tiffany Figueiredo, Lindsey (Jason) Krupin, Brittney Stratford, and Brooke Stratford; and her great grandchildren Makayla, Skylar, Brayden, Faith, Delainey, Cooper, and Nolan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Arnold Lower. Visitation will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 from 2-8pm. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11am with visitation beginning at 10am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Dr. Roger Stombaugh from the United Baptist Church in Garden City will officiate the service.
