Jean Coolman, age 80, of Northville, passed away peacefully November 19, 2014. She was born October 5, 1934 in Cass City, Michigan; daughter of Kenneth and Laverne (nee Hill) Dodge. She graduated from Walled Lake High School in 1952. Jean was united in marriage to Richard A. Coolman on August 20, 1955; they were married for 59 years. Just after they were married she and her husband moved to Northville and have lived in the same house ever since. Many will remember Jean from Freydl's Clothing Store in downtown Northville where she worked for 21 years. Jean was a wonderful wife and mother, but her favorite role was that of grandma. She was a cherished friend to many and enjoyed helping people. She volunteered at Amerman Elementary School in her granddaughters Kindergarten class; known as "Grandma Jean", she continued helping in the classroom even after her granddaughter was no longer there. Jean liked to keep busy; always cleaning up around the house, gardening, and enjoying trips to the casino. She is survived by her husband Richard; her children Michael Coolman and Lorie (Bob) Boshoven; and her granddaughter Elizabeth Boshoven. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. A Time of Gathering will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 from 10 a.m. until Noon with a Memorial Service at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Northville High School, 45700 Six Mile Road, Northville, MI 48168.
