Dorothy M. "Aunt Dot" Charlton

Dorothy M. "Aunt Dot" Charlton Age 94, of South Lyon, formerly of Detroit, passed away November 24, 2014. She was born in Buffalo, New York on March 12, 1920; daughter of George and Mae (nee Clark) Charlton. Dorothy worked as a Secretary for Michigan Central Station in Detroit; retiring after 40 years. She was a member of Meadowbrook Congregational Church in Novi for many years. While living in South Lyon, Dorothy who was very faithful had been attending bible study with Pastor Miller from Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dorothy, or "Aunt Dot" as many knew her, was a world traveler; visiting places like the United Kingdom to see her family, Jerusalem, Cuba, and all over the United States. She enjoyed photography; documenting her travels and cherished times with family were her favorite subjects. Aunt Dot also enjoyed golfing. She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Carol (Peter) Rich, Diana Blanchard, Jim (Nancy) Melvin, ad Jean (Greg) Sadler. Aunt Dot was also loved by many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Susannah Melvin; and her brother, George Charlton. The visitation will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon with a funeral service at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. She will be laid to rest at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Rd., Ste. 100, Southfield, MI 48033.
